NZ18 South - Motueka to Wellington

Fri. Feb. 16th, 2007.
After early breakfast we left along the Tasman bay to NELSON, had a short view there to the cathedral (windows, a labyrinth), drove through the shopping centre there and stopped for a coffee/hot chocolade with muffins. Then we went on via HIRA, Whangamoa, RAI valley, passing PELERUS bridge, Canvastown to HAVELOCK, and stopped shortly after Havelock at a beautiful view point between different sounds of the sea and Havelock. From there we followed the Queen Charlotte Scenic Drive to PICTON, where we had a short walk throught the shopping mall to the harbour, a quick lunch and after returning our rent-a-car a shuttle brought us to the Ferry (very big ship built in Denmark) on which we went to WELLINGTON (it was a very stormy afternoon, caused many people to get seasick). The weather at Wellington was so cold, that we both took our jackets and decided to first time at NZ use our pullovers (and it was on the NORTH ISLAND...After arrival at Wellington we had a new rent-a-car of same type waiting for us (Toyota Starlet) and after a short stop at our Holiday Park we just had a good New Zealand dinner (steak) and were happy to end this stormy day at our accomodation.
