Mon. March 5th, 2007: Grand Canyon
Today we dedicated to the magnificent views of Grand Canyon. After breakfast we went back to the park near the Grand Canyon Railway station, where the RED shuttlebus starts (the WEST rim route cannot be acessed by private cars after february). We went to the end to HERMITS REST, after a small walk along the rim and a photo stop we continued on the bus back to MOAVE POINT, and then further on to HOPI POINT, from where we walked back along the rim via POWELL POINT, MARICOPA POINT, TRAILVIEW Overlook (there you can watch the trail down to the Colorado River valley... a tough job not without danger, we left to younger people). Walking back to the end station of Red line we took a lunch at the village restaurant (Yavapai lodge). Then we continued on our car visiting all larger view points along the EAST RIM (Yavapai Point, Grand View Point), until - at sunset - we ended at DESERT VIEW, overlooking both Grand Canyon and the Navajo Desert behind it from near the Watch Tower, before we returned back to our hotel at Tusayan.
