US 8 - FRESNO to OAKDALE

Fri. March 9th, 2007: Fresno - YOSEMITE N.P. - OAKDALE.
Again further North along Route 41 through fruit gardens in blossom, then through hills further up to the woods to the YOSEMITE National Park (now we made it, got a Year's ticket for all US National Parks). Again up to a bit of snow, passing the old WAWONA-Hotel and stopping at many view points after the tunnel to the Yosemite-Valley, e.g. the Bridal Veil Fall, El Capitan and Halfdome, Cathedral Rocks. Guenters foot still limped, so we only had a short walk to the lower YOSEMITE FALL (a magnificent view) and to the Visitors Centre. Then we continued on the road at the northern side of the valley through burned down woods (still after the big fire 1995 (?) to Route 120 until we arrived at OAKDALE, where we stopped for the night.
