15.1.2007 - Start 5h20 taxi to Westbahnhof, from there with ICE 116 to Muenchen very quickly, up to 198 kmh!!! Weather: foggy to sunny. Then: Munic Hauptbahnhof to Airport via S8 - Schnellbahn, there enjoy some real Bavarian snack: Weisswurst mit Brezen and Weissbier at the "Erdinger", and after that enjoy a Dallmayer coffee and tee.
After that, at 14h50 boarding to LH to Tokyo Narita, flight delayed for computer problems by 1 hour, then depart without problems. On board we enjoy an evening meal starting with sushi, soba nudles and salmon. The deficit of sleep we can compensate looking to three films.
16.1.2007: In the morning we can see the sun coming up on the east-siberian mountains covered with some snow, down to Kamtschatka, enjoy breakfast above the chinese yellow sea, and land at Tokyo at 11h am local time. Our friend Hiroyuki Suzuki is so kind to fetch us from the airport, driving two hours along the expressways along the coast to his home from there to Zushi-shi. We were welcomed there by his wife Kimiko, sat and talked, looked to photos, could walk and see the hills around and enjoyed a typical Japanese Nabe (Vegetables and chicken cooked in a ceramic pot) before enjoying a Japanese Bath - then we fell into our (Japanese mat) bed...
17.1.2007: Got up 9h30, after good breakfast Kimiko drove us to KAMAKURA, where Hiro showed us the great Buddha (Daibutsu), walked to the Hase-Cannon-buddhist temple, entered the small old railway leading us to Kamakura main station, and from there one station to north Kamakura (Kita-Kamakura) . There we visited the large and impressive Enkakuji-temple and school of Zen buddhism. Going back on railway, we then went to the Hachimangu-shrine (shinto) after walking through the "doori" - doors in front of it. By bus we could come back to Zushi to Hiro's home, where Liesl and me were tought in the kitchen how to produce Gyoza (a kind of roasted/boiled Ravioli from vegetables with pork meat). Also we got our first lesson from Hiro to learn about Japanese WABI-SABI...
18.1.2007: Breakfast at 8h, this time continental with own marmelades (e.g. japanese lemon), depart 9h15 to se pennisula MIURA passing Zushi-bay, stopping at HAJAMA-vista point to see the imperor's second houses/summer houses, unfortunately Mt. Fuji was hidden by the fog. Along the pennisula coast we came to MISAKI, where we had an original fishermen's lunch at restaurant "Hamayu" (sanga fish), after that we went to the south end of the pennisula to the island JOGASHIMA, where we had a marvellous walk along the cliffs through some small tourist and fish markets. From there back and up the east side of the pennisula passing Kannonzaki and home to Hiro, where we arrived happy but tired, and Kimiko waiting to give us strenght with cooking Tempura (vegetables, skid, fish fried) - we were really received with very good care by the nice family of Hiro.
Tomorrow more, if I will manage again to find my way to create a blog post through the japanese written menue's of Windows and manage the Japanese keyboard... Best greetings from Japan, Guenter.
